Midnight Oil are an Australian rock band composed of Peter Garrett, Rob Hirst (drums), Jim Moginie, Martin Rotsey (guitar) and Bones Hillman. The group was formed in Sydney in 1972 by Hirst, Moginie and original bassist Andrew James as Farm: they enlisted Garrett the following year, changed their name in 1976, and hired Rotsey a year later.

Sarah Blasko is an Australian singer-songwriter, musician and producer. From April 2002 Blasko developed her solo career after fronting Sydney-based band, Acquiesce, between the mid-1990s and 2001.
She had performed under her then married name, Sarah Semmens, and, after leaving Acquiesce, as Sorija in a briefly existing duo of that name. As a solo artist Blasko has released six studio albums, The Overture & the Underscore, What the Sea Wants, the Sea Will Have – which peaked at No. 7 on the ARIA Albums Chart, As Day Follows Night – which reached No. 5, I Awake – which made No. 9, Eternal Return, and Depth of Field. End of Fashion are an Australian pop rock band from Perth, Western Australia. In January 2014, the band took a hiatus, with former lead singer and guitarist Justin Burford explaining in a Facebook post: 'Triple J national Australian radio station ended the career path of End Of Fashion, no question.'

Wayne Stevens, known by the stage name Bones Hillman, is a New Zealand musician.
He played bass guitar in his first band the Masochists, an early New Zealand punk act, formed with friends from the Auckland suburb of Avondale. In late 1977 he joined the Suburban Reptiles and appeared on their first single, 'Megaton'. The name Hillman was coined by the make of car he drove. He left the band in early 1978 and joined the former Masochists in the Rednecks, a mainstay of the legendary Zwines punk scene in Auckland.Alas Folkloric (2006) is Moginie's first full-length solo album and first release after Midnight Oil disbanded.

Brian Ritchie is the bass guitarist for the alternative rock band Violent Femmes.With Moginie in 2013 and 2014 has been performing live with the ACO Underground performing in Sydney, Banff and New York City.On 8 November 2017, during a performance as part of Midnight Oil's Great Circle Tour at The Sidney Myer Music Bowl in Melbourne, Moginie tore a hamstring during the last song of the main set.
He finished the song but did not return for the encore.In 2018 APRA AMCOS announced that Midnight Oil were to be the recipients of the 2018 Ted Albert Award for Outstanding Services to Australian Music at the 2018 APRA Music Awards.In 2018 Moginie co produced with Kent Steedman 'Bark Overtures' (released by Sony and Orchard) with his band The Family DOG, comprising Steedman, Paul Loughhead from Celibate Rifles and Tim Kevin (Houlihan, Knievel, La Huva, Youth Group). The album is an edited live off the floor recording produced at Oceanic Studio and recorded to analog recording tape. Midnight Oil is the debut album by Australian hard rock band Midnight Oil which was recorded in 1977 and released in November 1978 on the band's independent Powderworks label. It reached the top 50 on the Australian Kent Music Report Albums Chart. The album was later distributed by CBS Records and issued as a CD.
The LP has a blue cover, however, the CD has a black cover. Because of the blue cover, the former version is often referred to, by fans, as the 'blue album' or 'the Blue Meanie'. The lead single, 'Run by Night', became the band's first minor hit in Australia and appeared on the Kent Music Report Singles Chart Top 100. It also had a video clip. Bird Noises is the first extended play by Australian rock group, Midnight Oil, which was released on 24 November 1980 under the band's own independent label, Powderworks Records / Sprint Music. It was produced by Leszek Karski and manufactured and distributed by CBS/Columbia. Bird Noises reached the Top 30 on the Australian Kent Music Report Singles Chart.
According to Australian musicologist, Ian McFarlane, the EP 'continued the development heard on their previous album, with 'No Time for Games' and 'I'm the Cure' being particularly impressive. The EP also boasted the anomalous, but delightful Shadows-like instrumental 'Wedding Cake Island'. 20,000 Watt R.S.L. Is a compilation album by Australian rock band Midnight Oil released in October 1997 on their own label Sprint Music. The word 'Collection' appears on the front of the CD along the hinge in the same type face as the title and the name of the band and may have been intended as part of the album's title; however, it does not appear on the spine. The release has also been distributed inside a cardboard sleeve which adds 'Midnight Oil: The Hits' to the album art, distinguishing it as a compilation album. The Real Thing is a live album by Midnight Oil, and includes a cover version of Russell Morris's classic 'The Real Thing'.
It was initially issued in Australia with a bonus disk of interview material listed as containing 2 tracks but the CD was divided into 30 tracks, dividing the interview up so that past albums and each track on 'The Real Thing' gets a short discussion followed by snippet from the album or song being discussed. Later international releases had a bonus disk with videos of 'Cemetery In My Mind' and 'Redneck Wonderland'.
